nozap versus loyalkaspar

Mr. Paul F., a regular visitor of this blog, wrote me a mail with the question if I knew the origin of a showtime trailer. (no showtime link, their site is usa only, long live a free internet.)

To see the "showtime next trailer" you have to click here.

By hazard, this spot, by LoyalKaspar , served me as an inspiration for a telenet 10 year thing that I directed 6 months ago.

Yeah, you can clearly see the inspiration there! Yours is great, however. Love the use of depth with the slight 3D in yours.

I only directed the thing. Mr. Steven H. from inbetween magic did the AE handling.

looks like you jsut copied the spot by LK. Thats weak....
:(

I don't agree that it is weak. I try to be open about my sources that inpire me and quote them where possible. That doen't look weak to me. Do you know by hazard where LK got their inspiration from? Aren't we all inspired by something? Don't you have any examples?

its totally weak, you just copied it. added nothing to it. its not insipiartion when you dont make it better. its plagiarism. you have to take it to the next level. Insipration is what its all about, but dude, you copied...

LIke I said. I disagree. I added a theme. The theme of 10. Ten yearrs celebration. And I used a technnique, a tool. If you should quote someone you should honor after effects and not LK. End of story.

did you get paid for this job? if so its just wrong. as a 3D/2D artist in NY with 8 years experiience, direct rip-off's such as this do not fall under the "inpiration" catagorey.
be original! (i'm sure you will censor this)

and how could you say there was no theme? its pretty clear... its bout travel. hello?! not the sesame street theme you added... "the number 10" wow, nice one.

i agree. its too much of a rip off.
lk's inspiration came from the photos/footage and the creative brief from showtime. Just because you explicitly say they inspired you, doesnt give you the right to steal their ideas.

Yeah, not very nice. The paceing is way to slow. You didnt even copy it correctly. Pretty lame.
