dowa mondai - assimilation issues

Directed by Bob Jaroc.
My intentions for the piece were to stay clear of making a patronizing "cry/be angry for the homeless people" thing or a romanticized view of that life. I wanted to distill the experiences of the people who took the time to talk to me and question myself why I ended up going there in search of something to film.

The old dacha

directed by Nastia Tarasova.
A summer day in 1964, a dacha near Moscow, a playing child, adults who are about to go to the river. Through these pastoral images pierces the sound of a typewriter importunately: in this dacha a "samizdat" (self-publishing) typography is at work. In the evening when the next issue of the magazine is ready, a black car drives up to the house...

I love those good student films that still can be made without compromising a good idea. The point of view in the storytelling just gave me the shivers.

Doxology by Michael Langan.

Mr. Langan offers this description of the film:
Before reaching spiritual enlightenment, one sweater-vested young man must face a dancing Oldsmobile, endure a boozy encounter with God on a frozen tundra, and brush his teeth, comb his hair, floss, Q-Tip, lather and shave simultaneously. “Doxology” combines groundbreaking stop-motion animation techniques and unusual storytelling with the time-honored quest for spiritual awakening.

Lets consider it a comedy.
